Who can benefit from your classes?

Modern Pilates is suitable for everyone. The low impact nature of Pilates makes it perfect for all levels of fitness and ability and Pilates is progressive in nature so it’s easy to establish your level and options are offered throughout.
The clinical approach of Modern Pilates also makes it ideal for supporting those recovering from injury or surgery or with compromised movement ability due to pain, acute or a chronic conditions.

  • Spine issues e.g. disc herniation, sciatica, stenosis, etc.
  • Poor posture
  • Hip and knee replacements
  • Arthritis and Osteoporosis
  • Breast Cancer
  • Weak abdominals (core strength/stability)
  • Stress incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse
  • Fibromyalgia and Muscular Sclerosis.
Modern Pilates is also an ideal additional type of exercise for runners, and advanced fitness enthusiasts who will benefit from increased flexibility and core stability.

What can I expect from Ormskirk Pilates?

Class sizes are smaller so that you can be confident that you are being observed and given the support you need. Your instructor will be constantly observing and communicating on a group and individual level. Support will be offered verbally and with ‘hands on’ adjustment. Just let your instructor know if you would prefer not to be supported in this way. Adaptations to exercises will be offered as required so that you are still gaining the benefits from the activity whilst reducing the potential for irritation to occur.

Listen to your body. If it doesn’t feel right stop and let your instructor know. Just because it looks right doesn’t mean that it feels right, all our bodies are different. More often than not all that is needed is a simple adjust to the ‘set up’ position.

Do I need to reserve a place to attend your class?

Yes. Class sizes are kept small to ensure you get the most support from the session. So, spaces are limited.

How do I book on to a class?

Fill in the contact form for your Taster session on the home page and I will be in touch as soon as possible to your options.

How do I know if I’ll like it?

Everyone is offered a Taster session so you can experience the value and benefits that Pilates can offer. It is an opportunity for you to sample working with me and for me to assess the appropriate for the session to meet your needs. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by getting in touch and finding out more.

What happens after the Taster session?

At the end of your taster session you will be offered the opportunity to sign up on an ongoing monthly basis. Classes run continuously, except for pre-advised breaks. Those joining part way through a course will pay a pro-rata rate. Advanced payment cements your commitment to your health and guarantees your place in your preferred session.

Can I pay as I go?

Unfortunately, this option is not offered. The benefits of Pilates are best developed through consistent practice. This will enable you to become familiar with the terminology used, learn and develop a feel of the exercises. It will help your body learn how to move better and receive the benefits of Pilates. Continuous attendance allows the instructor to get to know you and your needs and help you more effectively.
What if I can’t attend on a continuous basis due to work commitments?

Discuss this with your instructor. It may be possible to arrange a pattern of attendance that accommodates your availability.

What if I can’t make a class?

As a member you have access to the booking system which enables you to swap a session that you may miss due to other commitments. Please note: ability to attend a different session is subject to space and appropriateness of the alternative session.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing which allows your body to move freely. Wear layers that you can add and remove as required to moderate temperature. We will work in bare feet or with socks on the mat. If you wear lose clothing, please wear something fitted underneath.

Do I need any equipment?

Sessions take place in different locations. We will advise you if you need to bring any equipment. You may also wish to bring a hand towel and bottle of water.

When can I expect to feel the benefits?

The majority of my clients feel some benefits within days of their first class. However, the speed of results can depend on your reasons for attending but you can expect to experience changes within 12 weeks.
